Jeffrey Zoul
Dr. Jeffrey Zoul is a lifelong teacher, learner, and leader. During Jeff’s distinguished career in education, he has served in a variety of roles, most recently as Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning with Deerfield Public Schools District 109 in Deerfield, Illinois. Jeff also served as a teacher and coach in the State of Georgia for many years before moving into school administration.
Zoul has also taught graduate courses at the university level in the areas of assessment, research, and program evaluation. He is the author and coauthor of many books, including What Connected Educators Do Differently, Start. Right. Now.—Teach and Lead for Excellence, Improving Your School One Week at a Time, and Leading Professional Learning: Tools to Connect and Empower Teachers.
Jeff has earned several degrees, including his undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts and his doctoral degree from the University of Alabama. He has also been recognized for his work as an educational leader on numerous occasions. In his spare time, Jeff enjoys running and has completed over a dozen marathons. Anthony McConnell
Anthony McConnell is the Assistant Superintendent for Teaching, Learning, and Innovation at Deerfield Public Schools District 109 in Deerfield, IL. Anthony began his career as a high school social studies and English language teacher at Rock Island High School in Rock Island, IL.
As a school administrator, Anthony has served as both an assistant principal and principal. As principal of Kipling Elementary School in Deerfield, IL, Anthony led the school in construction of STEM learning spaces, implementation of 1:1 learning, and adoption of The Leader in Me process.
In his final year as principal, Kipling was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. Anthony obtained his bachelor’s degree in history and anthropology from Western Kentucky University, a master’s degree in English language learning from Western Governors University, and his master’s degree and doctorate in educational leadership from Western Illinois University. Anthony also serves as an adjunct professor in educational leadership at Concordia University in River Forest, IL. In his spare time, he enjoys running, exercising, and spending time with his family: AJ, Aurelia, and Cayce. Anthony resides in Lake Villa, IL, and blogs at anthonymcconnell.edublogs.org.
